General Provision

 1.      Supremacy: This Constitution, in regard to the governance of the affairs of the Organization, is supreme and shall have binding force on (all) the members and the activities of the Organization in the station.

 

2.    Sovereignty: Sovereignty belongs to (all) the members of the Organization from whom the Executive Council Committee, through the Constitution, derives (all) its powers and authorities.

 

3.    NAME: The Organization shall be known, called and addressed as “Catholic Youth Organization of Nigeria, abbreviated “CYON”, St. Matthew Catholic Church, Outstation, Kuchikau” and herein after referred to as “the Organization”.

 

4.    MOTTO: The motto of the Organization shall be “Let your light shine” (Mathew 5:16)

 

5.     FELICITATION/SLOGAN: The approved modes of greeting or addressing the House and/or members shall be:

i.                   “For God and for Youth”. The response shall be “Through Christ” and/or

ii.                 “Youth!” The response shall “Fellowship” and/or

iii.              “Build the youth!” The response shall be “Build the Church”.

 

6.    EMBLEM/LOGO: The Emblem/Logo of the Organization shall be a shield with yellow background and navy blue stripes at the edges; a cross at the top centre of the shield coloured white, a dove descending with a green leaf in its mouth upon two open awaiting hands. The base of the shield shall carry the name of the Organization. The base shall finally rest on the designed cave shape with the motto of the Organization written on the designed cave shape.

 

 

 

 

7.     THE CYON FLAG: The flag of the Organization shall be designed in two equal parts of a rectangular shape with navy blue joined with white colour and the emblem embedded in the middle of the white coloured part of the flag.

 

8.    UNIFORM: The Organization’s approved uniform(s) shall be white buttoned long sleeve Shirt on a Pair of Black Trousers for male and white buttoned long sleeve shirt on black knee-covered skirt for females or the customized navy blue T-shirt with CYON logo inscribed on it, with black trouser for males or knee-covered skirt for females or any other uniform approved by the General House or the National level of CYON.
